How it works

Pre-transport planning

One of our Flight Nurses will conduct an assessment of the patient to be transported in order to determine appropriate medical team composition and request any particularity for transport, for example a low-altitude flight. To plan a transport, we require:

  • Patient full name, date of birth
  • Medical history and notes, test results, medications
  • Passport details, issue date, place, expiry
  • Home address and phone number
  • Attending physician name and contact number
  • Receiving facility, physician name and contact number
  • If applicable, travel companion name, date of birth and passport details
  • Luggage is limited to one standard size carry-on and one regular suitcase per person
Prior to departure
  • We will provide a complete itinerary showing all transport details including all departure/arrival airports, ground ambulance services and receiving facility.
  • We organize “bed to bed” transport which means will we take care of all transport, including any ground transportation required from hospital to departure airport
  • In addition, we will e-mail you a link to follow your medevac flight’s progress online in real time

On day of transport
  • Our critical care flight team will greet and assess the patient at the bedside, speak with the attending physician, nursing staff, family members and prepare the patient for transfer to the aircraft
  • We ask that the hospital prepare all medical chart copies, CD’s of any CT/MRI/Ultrasound/Catheterization studies and any specialty medications the patient may require while en route
  • En route, patient is continuously monitored by the flight team, and updates are continuously provided to family or client
  • On arrival the flight team will accompany the patient to the receiving facility, speak with the receiving physician, nursing staff and provide them with a copy of the patient’s inflight medical record along with their medical records.
  • Once the patient has been delivered, we will be pleased to notify you via phone or email of their safe arrival.
